| Hi, I'm the manager, president, & creater of this site, my name is Joe, but you can call me "Pappy_Joe", I also use JarHead, JoeBugg, and DAISYCOLLECTOR1. I am 54 years old married for the second time with 2 sons. My first hobby is collecting Daisy BB & other guns & my second hobby is building miniture doll house furniture from scratch (I do not work on my second hobby much anymore). I was born in Gadsden, Alabama before the 1950's and grew up there, in the 50's and 60's. As I grew up, my family consisted of 8 children, and I never was able to own a bb gun, so I had to borrow the bb guns, I shot. I spent 20 years in the United States Marine Corps, serving with the 2nd, 3rd & 4th Marine Divisions. I was in the Infantry and was an Infantry Instructor as well as serving 2 tours on Parris Island, S.C. as a Drill Instructor, Senior Drill Instructor & Company Gunnery Sergeant. I had orders in the early years to WestPac (Viet Nam), but only made it as far as Hawaii where I was assigned as a Security Guard on Pearl Harbor Navy Base. I served with the United Nations in South Korea and was the Commander of the Security Guard as a member of the Marine Detachment on CVN-68 USS NIMITZ. My last duty station was in my home state of Alabama were I trained an Infantry Company of Marine Corps Reserves in our capital (Montgomery, AL.), were I retired in 1990. I then moved back to my hometown (Gadsden, Alabama), where I still live. I started buying Daisys BB Guns in 1990, but it took me a few years to realize that I was collecting them. My childhood friend got me started in collecting em, he had quite a few BB Guns when we were growing up. We enjoyed hunting for the older ones as an adult children. We became partners and together we would storm the Trade Days, Yard Sales, Junk Stores, Antique Stores, Hardware Stores, Wal-Mart, K-Mart, and any-where else we could think of, and buy any and all Daisy guns we could find. In 1995 I started selling most of my collection off, at that time I had 147 guns. Most of these guns were in very good to excellent condition, with a large number in mint still in the box. My wife warned me against selling my collection, but I went against her advise anyway and began selling em. After selling most of my collection, I realized, that I really missed em. In fact I missed my Daisy Collection, so bad, I had to start collecting again in 2000. That was when my wife got me a computer for Christmas and I discovered there were a large number of Daisy collector out here on the web. Right now I have over 200 Daisy Guns (which fills one room in our home). I started a community web site on collecting air guns to help other collectors and to exchange information. I hope you get enjoyment and some information from this site. I started in 2001, with (VintageAirBBToyGuns), and changed the name to (AIR GUNS USA), in September, 2002. I would like to "THANK" you for visiting and "A SPECIAL THANKS" to everyone who has taught me and helped me along in my collecting and sharing of information. The list is to long to mention any names except one " "! | Copyright © 2003, 2004 JOSEPH W. WHORTON |
