  White Possom

My name is Bryan and my nickname is "White Possom". I was born in 1937 outside a small town in East Texas.  Like many people living in rural areas, I was born at home .  I was the second child of what would be seven children.  I remember WW11and playing with the Daisy wooden guns.  After the war, I got a Daisy Red Ryder for Christmas in 1946.  This gun had the iron cocking lever.  We rode our bikes and shot at each other with our guns.  We never airmed at the face and as far as I know, no kid in Rusk Texas got his eye shot out.  I went off to college but ran out of money my second year.  I would work every summer and save my money to go to school.  I was drafted since I was not in school in 1957.   I got out in 1959 and went back to college.  I got married in  April 1961.  In December of 1961 after being out of the Army  nearly 3 years, I was recalled back into active duty.  I spent nearly another year in the Army.  Sometimes after my first tour, my Mother gave me a model 100-38 Daisy Single Shot BB gun.  She had found the gun at a drug store when they were cleaning out the stock.  She paid $1.00 for the gun and it was in new condition.  It would be several years before I obtained another BB Gun but this was the start of my collection.    I still have this gun.  My wife Charlie(girl)  and I have been married since 1961.  We have two childrens and five grandchildren.  Before the kids were born, Charlie and I loved to scuba dive.  After the second child was born, we sold our 2 tanks and equipment.  We continued to love the water and in May 2001, We found our other house at Surfside Beach on the Gulf of Mexico.  We spend time at both places and the grandkids love the sea.  I found Joe, Ron, and Loyd and became an active member of the club.  Although I have never seen these gentlemen face to face, They are very special to me.  Because of the nature of my work, (IRS) I did not have many friends.  They accepted me at face value and I will always be thankful for that.  I retired from the IRS in January 2004.  I think I have about 125 Daisys or more and have a problem displaying them.  I am a Ham Radio Operator (call is N5DVQ)  and like to think I am an expert on Texas history.  Charlie says I am a Texas history nut.  We both like antiques and spend a lot of time looking for that special piece.
